Over the past sev­er­al weeks, we’ve seen restric­tions sur­round­ing COVID-19 loos­ened, but remain­ing aware of the lat­est with the virus is impor­tant. We spoke with QMG Infec­tious Dis­ease Physi­cian Dr. Hala Saad about some of the lat­est devel­op­ments with COVID-19.

What is typ­i­cal­ly a busy sea­son for many youth ath­letes in the area has come to a halt. Ongo­ing con­cerns sur­round­ing COVID-19 have led to the can­cel­la­tion or post­pone­ment of many spring and sum­mer sports.

It’s no sur­prise that 80% of Amer­i­cans do not meet the rec­om­men­da­tions for phys­i­cal activ­i­ty. We are more seden­tary than ever. We sit in the car on the way to work, we sit at work, and then we go home and sit down to relax. Good news is it’s nev­er too late (or ear­ly) to devel­op a man­age­able phys­i­cal activ­i­ty rou­tine that works for you. Being healthy doesn’t mean you have to sweat it out at a gym for two hours every day – I promise what I am ask­ing is much more man­age­able than that.

Per­form these five move­ments every 60 – 90 min­utes through­out the day. There’s no need to even leave your desk. In addi­tion, try to stand up every 20 – 45 min­utes and always be look­ing for ways to move more through­out your day.

High school hall­ways don’t always lead to life­long love, but for Ryan Teheng and Beth Coop­er, Cer­ti­fied Reg­is­tered Nurse Anes­thetists (CRNA), things were meant to be. Ryan and Beth met in high school, but their love sto­ry didn’t begin until col­lege.
