From toys that encour­age fine and gross motor skills to activ­i­ties pro­mot­ing sen­so­ry explo­ration, our ther­a­pists have hand­picked items that not only enter­tain but also con­tribute to your child’s wellbeing.

Pedi­atric ear, nose, and throat dis­or­ders remain among the pri­ma­ry rea­sons chil­dren vis­it a physi­cian. Ear infec­tions rank as the num­ber one rea­son for an appoint­ment, accord­ing to the Amer­i­can Acad­e­my of Otolaryngology‒ Head and Neck Surgery Foundation.

After-school snack­ing is impor­tant to help meet the ener­gy needs of chil­dren. Snacks are also great ways to help boost fruit and veg­etable intake. QMG Reg­is­tered Dietit­ian Brit­tany Win­ship shared that pair­ing two food groups when pro­vid­ing snacks helps keep hunger at bay. Below are five quick and easy exam­ples that include a fruit or vegetable.

Kids will be head­ed back to school again before you know it and along with sched­ul­ing phys­i­cals, eye exams, and vac­cines, it’s impor­tant to think about your children’s men­tal health too. March 2 is Nation­al Read Across Amer­i­ca Day. The day was estab­lished by the Nation­al Edu­ca­tion Asso­ci­a­tion (NEA) in 1998 to help get kids excit­ed about read­ing. Dr. Kendra Conkright, a physi­cian with Quin­cy Med­ical Group’s Pitts­field Clin­ic, is deeply com­mit­ted to her com­mu­ni­ty. Grow­ing up in near­by Grig­gsville, she devel­oped a strong con­nec­tion to the area and its peo­ple. Her child­hood expe­ri­ences with a med­ical con­di­tion sparked her inter­est in health­care, and she pur­sued her edu­ca­tion with the goal of return­ing to serve her community.
