QMG Opens Birth Center, Expanding Women's Health Care

Quin­cy Med­ical Group (QMG) proud­ly announces the open­ing of the QMG Birth Cen­ter, the first facil­i­ty of its kind in the region offer­ing a ded­i­cat­ed, mid­wifery-led mod­el of care.

“In keep­ing with our com­mit­ment to QMG’s mis­sion of tru­ly trans­form­ing care for the tri-states, we are pleased to open our Birth Cen­ter,” said Car­ol Brock­miller, Pres­i­dent of QMG. ​“We’re proud to intro­duce this unique birthing expe­ri­ence led by the area’s first two cer­ti­fied nurse mid­wives, whose exten­sive expe­ri­ence ensures the high-qual­i­ty care that an expec­tant moth­er wants. Devel­oped in col­lab­o­ra­tion with our OB-GYN physi­cians, this birthing alter­na­tive is anoth­er step toward pro­vid­ing cost-effec­tive, patient-cen­tered care that defines QMG.”

The Birth Cen­ter pro­vides a sup­port­ive, home-like envi­ron­ment where cer­ti­fied nurse mid­wives deliv­er com­pre­hen­sive ser­vices for women at every stage, rang­ing from gyne­co­log­ic ser­vices to pre­na­tal, birth, and post­par­tum care.

Locat­ed beside the QMG Surgery Cen­ter and Can­cer Insti­tute at 3301 Broad­way St. on the Quin­cy Town Cen­ter cam­pus, the facil­i­ty fea­tures three pri­vate birthing suites, tubs for water births, a wel­com­ing wait­ing area, and open space designed to encour­age move­ment and com­fort through­out labor.

“We cre­at­ed the Birth Cen­ter to offer patients an invit­ing envi­ron­ment with access to the full scope of mid­wifery care, whether that’s a rou­tine gyne­col­o­gy vis­it or sup­port dur­ing preg­nan­cy and birth,” said Ash­ley Stroot, APRN, CNM, WHNP-BC, Cer­ti­fied Nurse Mid­wife at QMG. ​“It’s a place where patients can receive per­son­al­ized, evi­dence-based care in a way that feels calm, safe, and aligned with their needs.”

Reflect­ing QMG’s com­mit­ment to women’s health, the Birth Cen­ter pro­vides patients with anoth­er option for care, com­bin­ing mid­wife exper­tise with a set­ting designed to sup­port patients through all aspects of their health and care. 

“Our mid­wives bring an incred­i­ble depth of knowl­edge and expe­ri­ence to the care they pro­vide,” said Katy Wand, MD, obstetrician/​gynecologist at QMG and med­ical direc­tor of the QMG Birth Cen­ter. ​“This cen­ter allows patients to expe­ri­ence that care in a set­ting designed for both patient-focused sup­port and clin­i­cal excellence.”
