Meet the RN Birth Assistants at the QMG Birth Center

Getting to Know Our RN Birth Assistants at the QMG Birth Center

Bringing a new life into the world is one of life’s most meaningful moments. At the Quincy Medical Group Birth Center, families are supported by a compassionate team dedicated to making each birth experience safe, personal, and empowering.

Among that team are our RN Birth Assistants, who play a vital role in supporting mothers, babies, and families during pregnancy, labor, and the first moments of life together. Today, we’re introducing two of the caring team members families may meet at the Birth Center: Christina M., RN, and Allison M., RN.

Christina M., RN — Birth Assistant

Originally from Arizona, Christina came to Quincy for college, where she met her husband, graduated from nursing school, and built the life she now calls home.

Quincy is definitely home,” she said.

Christina spent seven years working in Labor and Delivery in the area, where she also became a lactation consultant. During that time, she discovered a passion for helping families welcome their babies while learning to care for them in those early days.

I fell in love with helping families achieve the birth of their dreams and educating them about their new little one and how to navigate life with a new baby,” she said.

After taking some time away from full-time work to raise her three children, Christina returned to Labor and Delivery for another seven years. When the opportunity to work at the QMG Birth Center arose, she knew it was something special.

It’s really a dream come true to work with midwives and couples desiring a low-intervention experience for pregnancy and childbirth,” she said.

Christina’s interest in birth began early. At 12, she watched her younger brother enter the world through a family-centered birth experience that left a lasting impression.

My mom drove an hour and a half to receive midwifery care and was able to have the birth experience she hoped for,” Christina shared. That shaped my perception of how important it is for women to have a voice in what their birth experience looks like.”

Today, she encourages expectant parents to prepare by learning about the process and advocating for themselves.

Spend time talking to people you trust and learning about the birth process,” she said. Understanding what’s normal for your body, the risks and benefits of different options, and how to advocate for yourself is so important.”

Christina is also deeply passionate about breastfeeding support and education.

Human milk really is an amazing substance that helps start a healthy future,” she said. Many women don’t get the education or support they need to reach their breastfeeding goals, and I love helping families build that bond during those early moments.”

Christina offers guidance, support, education, and help navigating both big and small challenges throughout your breastfeeding journey.

Allison M., RN — Birth Assistant

For Allison, her career began with curiosity and quickly grew into a calling.

My journey started with a curiosity about how profoundly birth shapes women and families,” she said.

Before becoming a nurse, Allison completed a doula training course and attended the birth of one of her closest friends. The experience was life-changing.

I saw firsthand how meaningful it was to have someone there offering steady, compassionate support,” she said. That moment lit a spark, and I knew I wanted to be a part of birth for life.”

Allison later had the opportunity to work with a birth center and midwifery team in Texas, where she developed a deep appreciation for the midwifery model of care. She earned her nursing degree with the goal of supporting women during birth and postpartum.

Today, she’s thrilled to be part of the team at the QMG Birth Center.

It’s truly my dream job to assist births in an out-of-hospital setting,” she said. There is something beautiful about a woman trusting her own instincts to bring her baby earth side. I am passionate about educating mothers on their birth options and witnessing them have an empowering and redemptive birth experience.

When it comes to preparing for birth, Allison emphasizes the importance of building the right support team.

Choose a care team you trust,” she shared. Your provider and support people make a big difference in your experience.”

Above all, Allison wants families to know that every birth story deserves compassion and respect.

Whether your birth goes exactly as you imagined or looks very different, you deserve continuous support, encouragement, and respect.” she said.

My goal is for every family to feel seen and cared for.”
