Nurses Week: Meet Kim J.

For Nurses Week, we’re celebrating all nurses, including our incredible team here at QMG. In honor of the week, we recently sat down with Kim J. to get to know her a bit more.

1. What’s your role at QMG? I work as a Float nurse at QMG in Mt. Sterling. Previously, I worked in Podiatry for 12½ years with Dr. Shwetal Patel, as well as with Dr. Chaudhry and in the QMG Surgery Center when it first opened at the 1118 Hampshire building.

2. What inspired you to become a nurse? I wanted to provide the best for my sons, and I’ve always enjoyed helping people.

3. What do you enjoy most about being a nurse? Helping patients, advocating for them, and working alongside such an incredible group of nurses — both past and present.

4. What advice would you give someone just starting out in nursing? Be patient and truly listen to your patients.

5. What are you most proud of in your career so far? Being able to adjust and adapt to different job roles throughout my career.

Quick Take:

6. Coffee, tea, or something else to get you through the day? I enjoy coffee, hot tea, and of course water. If I need an extra boost, I’ll reach for a Pepsi or Dr Pepper.

7. What is your go-to snack during a shift? Granola mix and a cheese stick — and don’t tell anyone, but occasionally chocolate!

8. What role do you usually play on your team? I’m calm, flexible, and just go with the flow.
