Celebrating Advanced Practice Provider Week: Getting to Know Elizabeth Terwelp, PA-C

Sometimes, the path to a career in healthcare starts with a big moment. For Elizabeth Liz” Terwelp, PA‑C, it was more of a feeling.

I don’t think I had any specific big events that inspired me, but I knew I wanted to use my passion for wellness to help others do the same,” she says.

That passion has taken Liz through several areas of medicine and ultimately to our Primary Care team at Quincy Medical Group (QMG), where she continues to build on what she’s learned throughout her career.

I have loved being able to pursue various areas of medicine further, as I have worked in several different areas gaining knowledge from those experiences and I hope allowing me to better serve patients every day,” Liz said.

Her work also brought her back to the community she has always called home. Liz grew up in Quincy, attended Quincy Notre Dame and John Wood Community College, and returned after Physician Assistant school to raise her family and care for patients in her hometown.

When she’s away from the office, Liz is usually spending time with her family or staying active. She enjoys daily exercise and has even trained and competed in HYROX.

For Liz, staying active isn’t just something she enjoys. It’s something she encourages her patients to make part of their lives, too.

Movement is medicine!” she said.

A walk outside, a bike ride with the kids or simply planning some physical activity into the week can all make a difference. These things can have such a positive impact on both your physical and mental health.”
