As far back as Amy Hasting, Behavioral Health Therapist at Quincy Medical Group (QMG) and Vice President of the QMG Foundation Board of Directors, can remember, she has always wanted to help people. She considered being a doctor or a teacher before choosing to be a therapist. Amy shared, “I feel that I’m at my best when I can help someone work towards achieving their goals in life.”
Amy’s passion for helping others is what led her to join the Foundation Board. Amy shared, “Through the Foundation, I’m able to be part of helping someone overcome huge hurdles in their life at times when they are most vulnerable.” Amy continued, “People don’t realize that it doesn’t take something monumental to make a difference.” Amy has seen that through volunteering her time and donating to the Foundation, you can make a huge impact in someone’s life.”
Amy is grateful to witness the Foundation’s work in action in the community and feels honored to work alongside “some of the most benevolent and selfless people I know.” She believes the Foundation excels at upholding its mission, and the Board makes decisions that benefit the greatest number of people. “Staying true to the mission is very important to every board member,” said Amy. “Sometimes, this requires making very tough decisions.”
One of the Foundation initiatives she is most proud of is Cancer Crush. “While all the Foundation events serve a purpose, Cancer Crush is on another level. We have so many amazing volunteers, sponsors, and donors who pull together to make this event happen and grow every year.” Amy loves seeing the community come together for a cause that nearly everyone can relate to. “To see people show up to support the cause is a sight to behold. It’s a roller coaster of emotions, but it’s so worth it!”
