I have practiced Neurology in Quincy for nearly 30 years. I think I’m fairly well known in the community. I don’t know everyone, but it seems like I generally know someone they know.

As for philosophy of medical practice the term Doctor“ comes from the Latin word Docere” which means to teach“. If I’m not teaching, I’m not doing my job. Like so many things and if there things we can change in our lifestyle to help fix the problem in the first place, then it takes less medicine to do the job. That speaks to Hippocrates original thoughts on medicine primum non nocere” which translates to first do no harm.” We must do things for patients, not to patients.

Some level of humility is a necessary trait as a provider in the medical field. No one cares what you know, until they know you care.

Clinical Interests

I am general neurologist and I enjoy a broad and varied practice. With 30 years of experience, I enjoy a good relationships with academic subspecialists at the universities.I enjoy working with unique cases, some of which may require additional insight from tertiary and academic centers for additional evaluation/opinion so that we are able to provide the best treatment for our patients based on their individual needs.

Personal Interests

My first and primary priority is my family. Following spending quality time with family, I enjoy traveling, reading history, and gardening (which greatly informs a balanced worldview.)

"I like Dr Sullivant. He helped me on this visit discussing medication alternatives for dealing with my pain. I asked the nurse how "talkative" he was that day. She said Pretty much as usual. I had a list of topics to discuss so replied I did not want him going off on illustrations I hear most the time, This along with the nurse knocking on the door before often prevents me to get his full attention. This time I held up my list when he went off topic he came back to my issues. Plus, there was no knock on the door. This was very productive and he offered suggestions for things to do to help me. I was pleased. I feel I am in good care and that he is very intelligent."
