My name is Dr. Shannon Thoele, and I’m excited to have returned to the Quincy community, where I grew up. It’s an honor to serve the community that shaped me, and I’m committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care to each person who walks through my door.

As a psychiatrist, I believe in treating the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. My approach to mental health care is rooted in compassion and a deep respect for the unique experiences and challenges each individual faces. While I do believe in the effectiveness of psychiatric medications, I tend to take a conservative approach, attempting to limit the number of medications prescribed. I prioritize finding the best, most sustainable path to recovery, which often includes therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and other non-pharmacological interventions.

In our work together, I aim to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your mental health needs, be heard, and find the support that will help you lead a more fulfilling life. My goal is to empower you to take an active role in your treatment, and together we can build a plan that best suits your needs, goals, and values.

Thank you for considering me as a partner in your mental health journey. I look forward to meeting you and walking with you as we work toward your healing and growth.

Clinical Interests

As someone who values Christian teachings, I believe there is often a meaningful connection between faith and mental health. For those who share this perspective, I’m happy to discuss how faith can play a role and enhance their journey toward healing. At the same time, I want to assure all individuals, regardless of their beliefs, that I am fully committed to providing compassionate care that respects and supports you.

Personal Interests

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephews, who bring so much joy and energy to my life. I’m also an avid traveler, always excited to explore new places and cultures. Volunteering with my church is an important part of my life, and I find great fulfillment in giving back to my community. At home, I enjoy unwinding with a good movie, playing board games, or simply relaxing with my cats.
