One Wrong Step. One Right Surgeon.

Last fall, Greg M. set out for what he expected to be a routine morning hunt. But the moment he stepped off his stand, he knew something was wrong.

When I stepped down, my ankle rolled, and I heard two pops,” he recalled.

Alone, a mile and a half from his truck and without his phone, Greg realized he had no way to walk out. Using a sturdy stick as a crutch, he crawled and dragged his injured leg through the woods until he finally made it to safety.

Finding Confidence in Care

At first, another facility sent Greg home with a walking boot, reassuring him that the injury wasn’t serious. But the pain didn’t ease, and Greg felt in his gut that something wasn’t right.

Relief came when he met QMG Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Osaretin Idusuyi, a foot and ankle specialist.

I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Idusuyi,” Greg said.

After reviewing the X‑rays, Dr. Idusuyi quickly found the real issue — a spiral fracture that required surgery. Calm and reassuring, he explained the seriousness of the injury and walked Greg step-by-step through what the surgery would involve.

He was upfront, pleasant, welcoming, and smiled and said, We’ll get you fixed up,’” Greg said.

Dr. Idusuyi also outlined the entire recovery plan including therapy and the path back to full mobility, giving Greg peace of mind and a renewed sense of control.

More Than a Physical Injury

As the reality of the situation set in, Greg felt the weight of more than just physical pain. With his father’s recent passing, he had become the steady support his mother relied on. Suddenly, he couldn’t mow the yard, fix things around the house, or help his family the way he always had.

I couldn’t do anything for her, and I felt so helpless,” he said.

Having a clear understanding of the recovery process helped. Knowing what to expect and having someone guide him along the way made Greg feel capable of facing the challenges ahead and eventually returning to the role his family counted on him for.

Exceptional Care with a Personal Touch

Greg’s journey required two surgeries, but through every step, he felt supported by Dr. Idusuyi and the team.

One moment stood out. Dr. Idusuyi gave Greg’s wife his personal cell number, encouraging them to reach out anytime.

There were times we did, and he always responded,” Greg said.

He also brought a sense of humor. I remember Dr. coming in playing music on his phone and singing and dancing. He was coming in to take my stitches out. He was a lot of fun! We had so many laughs,” Greg said.

Back to Being the Rock

Today, Greg is fully healed. He’s completed physical therapy, returned to work, and is back to being the rock his family depends on.

Dr. Idusuyi was absolutely phenomenal. He was caring, informative, upbeat, and genuinely fun to be around,” Greg said.

What Greg values most is the honesty, compassion, and accessibility he experienced from start to finish.

I didn’t dread going to the doctor despite what I had going on. I am forever grateful to Dr. Idusuyi and his staff,” he said.
