“The theme fits our goals of
the Sports Medicine team perfectly at Quincy Medical Group,” states Aaron
Clark, Director of Sports Medicine. “We work in collaboration with physicians
to offer specialized care to people who are physically active through the
teamwork of our athletic trainers, physical therapists, sports medicine
physicians and orthopedic surgeons.” Quincy Medical Group strives to meet this mission on a daily basis. An example of this is QMG’s free walk-in
injury clinic, which is an outreach service provided to the community. The free
injury clinic is offered Monday thru Friday from 7-9am at Quincy Medical
Group’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department, located at 1118 Hampshire Street.
This clinic is for all athletes “in life and sport” including weekend warriors
and competitive athletes of any age. “We would like to create a greater
awareness of the role and duties of our athletic trainers,” states Dr. Anthony
Biggs, Medical Director of Sports Medicine at QMG. “Their clinical skills for
treating musculoskeletal disorders and ability to develop health and wellness
programs make our athletic trainers a valuable member of our athletic health
care team.”
March is recognized as National Athletic Training Month. This
year’s theme is “Health Care for Life and Sport.”
Quincy Medical Group Athletic Trainers are experts in the
assessment, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries. They
provide sideline assistance and team training for many regional schools and are
often the first healthcare providers to arrive at the scene when someone is
injured during a sporting event. Other services they offer include sports
specific training through the Maximum Athletics Program and injury assessment
and consultation. In celebration of
National Athletic Training Month, the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine
Department is offering a 10% discount for all performance enhancement programs
purchased in the month of March.
