Quincy Medical Group (www.quincymedgroup.com), the tri-states leading healthcare provider, is a physician-owned clinic comprised of nearly 100 physicians and advanced practice providers in 25 medical and surgical specialties. The clinic founded in 1937 is proud of the quality healthcare services available to over 325,000 people in the tri-state area within a 75-mile radius.
QUINCY, IL – Quincy Medical Group has begun the process of converting from a paper chart to an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The name of the EMR is C.A.R.E., chosen in conjunction with our motto, Dedicated to Quality, Committed to Care.
“This new system will improve the quality of patient care by granting providers easy access to comprehensive patient information aiding in the decision making process,” said Dr. Andrews, an internal medicine physician and the chairman of the EMR steering committee.
Other benefits with our C.A.R.E. electronic system will include the ability to transmit prescriptions to electronically enabled pharmacies, speeding the delivery of service as well as the accuracy of prescription writing. Since the electronically submitted prescriptions will go directly in to the pharmacy system, no one will have to read a written prescription and the margin for error or misinterpretation will be greatly decreased. Those patients with prescription coverage and a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), we will also have the ability to receive, through the electronic systems of RxHub or SureScripts, the patient’s current medication history.
This transition, a 12 to 18 month process, will allow QMG providers instant access to patients’ medical record information. Once the entire organization has transitioned to the EMR, healthcare needs will be met in a more timely fashion.
