What do Vascular Surgeons do?

Vascular surgeons are specialists who are highly trained to treat diseases of the vascular system. They are specifically trained to diagnose and treat vascular conditions like varicose veins, spider veins, venous reflux, and more. Our Vascular Surgery team is here to make sure you understand your vascular condition and know your treatment options.

Your Treatment

Your treatment may or may not require surgery. Some conditions can be treated with other methods, such as compression and/or lifestyle changes. In some cases, you may need a vascular surgeon on an ongoing basis if your vascular disease is a long-term condition. Your doctor will go through all your options, so you get the best treatment for your particular need.  Treatment options include:

VenaSeal and Radiofrequency Ablation

One treatment option offered by the QMG Vein Institute is VenaSeal. VenaSeal is a minimally invasive procedure that treats varicose veins and venous reflux. The procedure uses an advanced medical adhesive to safely and effectively close the site of the vein. Benefits of treatment include a rapid recovery period for patients and a reduced need for compression stocking therapy post-procedure. VenaSeal provides positive cosmetic results so patients can feel confident about the look and feel of their legs.

Our team also treats conditions with Radiofrequency Ablation which achieves similar results to the VenaSeal.  Sometimes insurance carrier will prefer one treatment over the other.
